Why am I here on Earth?
Discover Your Divine Identity. In this week's newsletter, we delve into the profound journey of self-discovery, rooted in faith and love. It's a quest to find the identity crafted by a loving Creator.
Who am I?
Why am I here?
I want to know my purpose.
âââââââââââââââââ
These were my everyday lines of prayer.
Oftentimes, we ask these questions. We crave an identity that we already have. If only we knew how much God loves us and how he cares for us.
God's Manual for Life
Consider this: every new electronic device comes with a manual, guiding us to understand its purpose and potential. In the same way, God has provided us with His Word, the ultimate manual for life. It holds the key to our true identity and purpose.
Answering the Divine Call
God's call beckons us to a marvelous vineyard, where abundance and purpose await. In 1 Peter 2:9, we discover the identity we have in Jesusâa chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people.
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV): But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
We are chosen, selected by God for a special relationship.
We are called to be a royal priesthood, meant to dominate and reign.
We are a holy nation, sanctified by the blood of Jesus.
We are peculiar, precious in God's sight, and unique in our mission.Godâs always calling us to his marvellous vineyard, where we have everything in abundance. I love this scripture; I see the identity I have in Jesus here.
We are a Chosen Generation
The word chosen means âto be selectedâ. We, as believers, have been called by God to have a special relationship with him. We are the chosen race. We have been predestined for salvation.
See Ephesians 1:5: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Do not wait for too long; COME.Â
A Royal Priesthood is What He Called Us
A quick flashback to when the children of Israel were at Mount Sinai: God instructed Moses to tell them that they would be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation (Exodus 19:6). These words came again in the book of Revelation 5:10.
As believers, we belong to the kingdom of heaven. It is an assurance that God wants us to dominate and to also reign here on Earth as priests.
A Holy Nation.Â
We are a holy tribe.
I like the Amplified version of 1 Peter 1:15â16, which says
âBut like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage] because it is written, âYou shall be holy (set apart), for I am holy.â
It is possible to be holy with Jesus. We are to set our lives apart from worldly lust and profane habits. God has called us holy. We have been sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ. Our lives have become the gospel, so endeavor to portray holiness as you go about your daily activities. In class, at work, or in your examination hall, be holy because He is holy.
Remember this as you go: We are to be transformed in our minds and not conformed to this world.
A Peculiar PeopleÂ
When something is called âpeculiarâ, it means it is special. My sisters and brothers, we are Godâs special possession. We are kingdom reformers, precious in Godâs sight, wonderfully and beautifully made.
Light of the world, cry no more. Do your fatherâs bidding. 'Come, daughter, come, sonâ, he gently calls.
Whenever the question comes again, look into the mirror and say, I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar person
Called to Light
Every believer shares a common purpose: to live a life that reflects the goodness of God and proclaim His light. When Jesus left, He entrusted us with a remarkable assignment: to go forth and make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Whatever you are doing, if thereâs no kingdom purpose, check it again. Every pursuit of our lives should portray Christ and make him known.
The summary of this scripture remains that we have an identity as believers; we are to be Christ-like. Know today that your lifestyle is the greatest gospel, so live well so that you can reach the unreached.
My Journey of Self-Discovery
Do you know YOU?
It seemed so hard for me, but I knew that there was more to Oyindamola. Every book I read instructed me to study myself, but it didnât work. I couldnât even decipher; I felt I was doing something wrong.
The story took shape when I read the book âThe Purpose-Driven Lifeâ by Rick Warren. Itâs a book I would recommend to anyone. Then I went back to my manual, the Bible.
Studying the word and practicing persistent prayer is the key to enjoying a fulfilled life.
As you do your service, you begin to know. As you do, you know.Â
I urge you today to grow your personal relationship with God; he wants to father you.

This is a wonderful piece!
You really did well in putting up your musings here. It's worth reading and pondering over.
"Studying the word and practicing persistent prayer is the key to enjoying a fulfilled life"
This really captivates me. This is applicable to all followers of religions, it is because we ignore these things that the world is in disarray these days. It is necessary that man truly study the word of God and make it point of duty to practice what he study, then with prayer, the enjoyment that life offers is beyond description.
