A Journey to Godly Womanhood
Dear Beloved Friend,
How was service today? I hope it filled your spirit with renewed hope and joy.
As we stand on the brink of 2024, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've embarked upon together. It's been a year of challenges and triumphs, and through it all, the unwavering power of God has been our anchor.
Just with the new year, new resolution thing, I made a decision to read a book a month. In the month of July, I read a book by Jackie Kendall titled ‘The Lady in Waiting’. It made me have an understanding of how God would have me be as a single lady. The book has ten topical heading of different qualities that a lady waiting on God for a godly family should have.
The book's insights are not exclusive to the ladies—it holds valuable lessons for everyone, including you, my brother. The qualities of a Lady in Waiting—total surrender, diligence, virtue, devotion, purity, contentment, faithfulness, security, patience, and discernment—are virtues we all can embrace in our journey towards God's purpose.
Hey brother: As you read this, think of it not just as advice for the ladies but as a brother in waiting. We all have a role to play in God's grand design.
A Lady of Virtue.
As a lady, God wants you to develop the virtues of Christlikeness. An example from the Bible is Rebekah.
16 The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.
17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”
18 “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.
19 After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.”
20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.
21 Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful.
She displayed godly virtues of kindness, humility, hospitality and patience. Virtue is developed over time as we allow God’s spirit do a special work in your life. As we grow more and yearn for God, the Holy Spirit produces the godly characters we seek. We start to manifest the fruits of the Holy Spirit. See Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law.
Find the epilogue of a virtuous woman here: Proverbs 31:10-31
A Lady of Devotion.
This has been God’s plan from the beginning. He tenderly created woman to love Him and to experience the blessedness of fellowship with Him.
God still desires to know and to be known by women today. We can only know God by seeking Him.
David said:
“ You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you;I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” (NIV)
In Jeremiah 29:12-13, we find God’s promise to everyone who seeks Him. Our heart is the key to devotion to God. To find God, we must seek Him with our whole heart. A halfhearted search is not sufficient.
Seeking God is very similar to developing a friendship. Just like the way you communicate with your new friend everyday. The more you know your friend, the more your love grows for him/her. It should be the same with God. The more you know Him, the more you want to know more of Him.
If you get tired doing it alone, try to draw strength from your company of believers. Pray for a friend who you can always talk about spiritual growth together, pray together, study the word together.
Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Conclusion
Hi Friend, there’s still a lot to learn from the book. I encourage you to read it too.
As you read the Bible, ponder: What does this scripture reveal about God? What does it say about you? How does it apply to your life?
These reflections deepen our intimacy with God, guiding us on the path of purpose.
May God teach us to know him more.

The Purpose-driven lady.
You caught me when you said "Hey Brother" 😆
But yeah, it's God's desire that we spend our singlehood building character and virtue.
And like the Psalmist, my desire is to spend my days seeking him early in pure devotion and consecration.
Many thanks for sharing. I appreciate the thoughtfulness in your words... 👏
