The Faith Life
Exciting news! A friend's recent faith-filled experience brought my stories to life.Faith is a potent force. Let's explore biblical tales of faith—Abraham, David, and Daniel.
Hey there,
Guess what happened to me yesterday? My friend burst into my room, practically buzzing with excitement. It turns out she put her faith into action, and the results were mind-blowing. I've shared my experiences with her before, but they always seemed a bit abstract. Now, she's seen it firsthand and can't stop smiling. It means a lot to me because all those anecdotes I've shared suddenly became real for her.
I bet you're curious about what she did. Well, she trusted God for guidance in her exam preparation. She prayed, yes, but she also put in the work (remember James 2:17). The amazing part? The questions in her exam were exactly what she had studied the night before.
Faith—complete trust or confidence—is a big deal. The Bible sums it up like this: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Heb 11:1-2).
Let's take a trip through some faith stories from the Bible. Abraham, the OG of faith, obeyed God even when it seemed crazy. When God asked him to leave his father’s house (Gen 12:1-2), he obeyed. Even when he was asked to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,. He didn’t argue, even when he bore Isaac at a very young age. This teaches one to be patient and obedient, trusting God to fulfill all of his promises. Abraham knows God was willing and able to keep every promise that he made to him.
David, the giant slayer, had an unshakeable trust in God, from defeating a lion to facing down Goliath. In the life of David, I learned how to fully trust God. Even before he confronted Goliath, he had killed a lion in the wilderness. When he was to fight against Goliath, he confronted him in the name of God. David's faith in God was unshaken. He had a high view of God, and God was first in his heart and life. He trusted God. David credited God for delivering him in the past, present, and future. He walked humbly before the Lord.
And then there's Daniel, a man of unwavering principles, not willing to compromise even if it meant facing death. Daniel was obviously a man who loved and obeyed God; from a young age, his life's principles were developed in accordance with God's expectations. Every time the opportunity presented itself for him to prove his allegiance to God, he grabbed him with both hands. He was unwilling to compromise; he was true to his beliefs. Although he knew that disobeying a decree meant death, he would not give up his faith, even for his own life.
Jumping to the New Testament,
Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we also have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1-2 reminds us that our faith brings justification and peace with God through Jesus Christ. It's like an all-access pass to grace, and the Holy Spirit pours God's love into our hearts. Jesus brings us to God's glory through our faith.
It's incredible what faith can do, right? Let's keep the conversation going and share our own stories of faith in action.
