Exciting Beginnings in Medical School
Hello, my friends, It’s an official welcome to the last month of the year.
I’m so happy to speak with you today. Guess what?
This week marks the beginning of my journey in medical school. It was my white coat ceremony on Thursday, and I was extremely happy as we were instructed by the provost to put on our coats. I have been waiting for this day for years, and it finally came. I’ve worn my coat to write a new story in the health care history of Nigeria. This is to a lifetime of dedicated practice and impact.
I’m not only making progress in my academics; it’s an all-round thing, and I’m happy that you are here on my list to witness my journey.
You can share your growth with the community too. We’ll be happy to celebrate with you.
Forgiveness and emotional well-being
So, picture this regular Monday, right? My friend did something that got under my skin, and suddenly, I'm in a gloomy mood. But then it hit me—I could've just forgiven her and saved myself from this emotional mess. It's like I had this power to let go and not let the bad feelings stick around.
Reflecting on this incident, I realized that swift forgiveness could have spared me the prolonged agony of dwelling on my friend's nonchalant actions. Instead of allowing her behavior to cast a shadow on my mood, I could have chosen a path leading to both personal liberation and constructive communication.
This experience brought to mind the profound words of Jesus when questioned by his disciples about the nature of forgiveness. In Matthew 18:21–22, Peter asked, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?' To which Jesus responded, 'I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
In these words, we find a timeless lesson on the boundless capacity for forgiveness. Just as Jesus encouraged forgiveness beyond mere numerical limits, we too have the opportunity to cultivate a spirit of forgiveness that transcends our immediate grievances. By doing so, we not only liberate ourselves from the chains of resentment but also pave the way for genuine understanding and connection.
Childlike humility and pure hearts
And you know what else crossed my mind? That bit from Matthew 18:1–5, where Jesus tells his crew that unless they become like little kids at heart, there is no entry to the kingdom of heaven. It's like a 'heart conversion' thing.
[3] And said, Verily, I say unto you, Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
I was mesmerised by the humility of children; no wonder how tender their hearts are. The heart of a child is filled with pure, unconditional love, care, and kindness.
So, here's the pitch: Let's channel our inner kiddo hearts, 'cause those qualities? They're the golden ticket to heaven.
